Speak the Word
“…whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” Ecclesiastes 10:8
Many have erroneously thought it was God who permitted satan to buffet Job and make him suffer so he would be humble. That’s not true! Job was a man whom God had greatly blessed and protected (Job 1:2-3,10). But despite God’s protection over his life, which even satan attested to, Job lamented,”…that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came” (Job 3:25-26).
The reality is that Job’s fear was his undoing! He created a platform for the devil to come in and run rampage in his life by voicing his fears. Fear hinders faith; it is actually negative faith; it’s a demonstration of faith in the ability of the adversary to hurt you.
The moment Job started talking his fears he was digging holes in the protective hedge God had built around him. He delivered his goods to the devil through the perverseness of his lips–by talking and acting fear.
Never talk fear or give voice to words inspired by fear. Continually fill your heart with the Word of God, “…for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45). When you fill your heart with the Word, your mouth will of necessity speak from the rich deposit of the Word in your spirit.
